Terms of Service

This service is operated by Benjamin M. Wood ("we", "us"). By requesting an API key or using the API at api.pucdocs.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What the service is

We compile docket records published by U.S. state utility commissions into one normalized dataset and serve it over an authenticated HTTP API. The underlying records are public documents; what you are paying for is our collection, normalization, and hosting of them.

2. Keys and acceptable use

Your API key is personal to your account. Keep it confidential; you are responsible for requests made with it. Tell us promptly if it is exposed and we will rotate it.
Your plan includes a request quota. We may throttle or suspend a key that exceeds it or that is used to disrupt the service.
Do not attempt to bypass authentication, extract the full dataset in bulk beyond your plan, or resell raw API access without a written agreement.

3. Billing

Paid plans are billed per period (monthly unless agreed otherwise) in advance. Prices are shown on our pricing page and may change with notice before your next renewal.

4. Cancellation and refunds

Cancel any time. You may cancel whenever you like and you will not be billed again.

A purchase covers the period you bought. Access continues to the end of that period — if you subscribe on 1 January for a month, you have access through 31 January — and then falls off if you have not renewed. We do not refund or prorate partial periods.

If you cancel and later resubscribe, a new period is purchased at the then-current price.

5. Data accuracy — please read

We work hard to make this data complete and current, and we publish our coverage openly on the docs page. Even so, the dataset is compiled from third-party government sources and is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Specifically:

Coverage varies by state. Some commissions publish filing dates or classifications inconsistently, and some historical records are incomplete.
Source portals change without notice; a given state's data may be fresher or staler than others at any moment.
We are not the originator of these records and cannot guarantee correctness or timeliness of the underlying documents.

This is a data service, not legal, regulatory, or compliance advice. Verify anything material against the originating commission before acting on it.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the API online continuously, but we do not promise a specific uptime or response time unless we have signed a written service level agreement with you (available on Enterprise). We may interrupt service for maintenance or incidents.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or missed filings.

8. Termination

You may stop using the service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate a key for breach of these terms, or with notice if we discontinue the service, in which case prepaid time not yet elapsed is refunded.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use after that date means you accept them.

10. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions or notices: bwood@agentmail.to.
